What is Crowdin?

Crowdin is a Translation Management tool, which has been integrated with CTRwow. Crowdin allows CTRwow users to quickly translate into other languages their pages, generating a clone version of the page but in a different language.

How does it work?

Translate your website(s) and webpage(s) is now easier and quicker. The translation process is divided into three steps:

1. The first step is to enable Crowdin within your CTRwow account.

2. Following this, websites and pages will show the option to export the text into a CSV file for translation.

3. The last step is to import the CSV file(s) back into CTRwow, creating a duplicate of the website in the translated language.

How Crowdin is enabled in a CTRwow account

To enable Crowdin within a CTRwow account, please follow the guidelines below:

1) From CTRwow DASHBOARD, go to the left side menu and select MANAGE

2) From the MANAGE option, please scroll down and click on Save Settings

3) On the Save Settings page, the second checkbox listed is the Enable Translate function with Crowdin integration.

4) If the box is checked and in the field is added the Crowdin API Key, once the Update button is hit then the Crowdin software will be enabled with CTRwow

Once the Crowdin is enabled/saved inside CTRwow you can export pages or websites to be translated.

Additionally, the following two options will be available for each one of your websites:

• Provide a new Export for Translation option to generate a CSV file.

• Provide a new Import Translation option to import the translated CSV files.

How to Export website(s) or webpage(s)

Translating a website(s) or web page(s) is very easy, please follow the below steps:

1) From CTRwow DASHBOARD, go to the left side menu and select BUILD

2) Then select Websites

3) On the Websites section, please hover your mouse on the website you want to translate then click on the Actions (three dots icon) button and a scroll down menu will appear where you can find the Export For Translation button

4) Once clicked on the Export For Translation button a tab will pop up

5) On the Export to Crowdin for Translation tab, you can select the page(s) that you want to translate

6) Choose if the file should be exported to the user’s local machine or to Crowdin

7) You can choose if exporting into a Crowdin new project, adding the name of the project into the field Create a New Project or choose one of the already existing projects from the list provided into the Use Existing Project field 

8) Click on the Export button, at the bottom of the tab, and the text of the page(s) will be exported into a CSV file with all the text extracted, HTML tags are included and shorten, together with key values to map with original pages. This file will be sent to Crowdin or loaded into the user’s local machine, according to the option selected on the tab.

Additional Information

As soon as the above is done, users can choose which language(s) they want the text to be translated.

The translator can add as many columns as the user needs. Each column refers to a language in which the text has been translated, and users can choose as many languages as they need to.

For example, the user selects just two languages for the translation, French and German, which means that the file will have:

• Column A: is the extracted text of the page in English

• Column B: is the translated text of the page in French

• Column C: is the translated text of the page in German.

How to Import website(s) or webpage(s)

Once the translation process is done then users can import the translated CSV file back into CTRwow as per the below steps: 

1) From CTRwow DASHBOARD, go to the left side menu and select BUILD

2) Then select Websites

3) On the Websites section, please duplicate the website for which has been previously exported the text on the CSV file for translation.
To duplicate a site, please hover the mouse on the chosen website and click on the Actions (three dots icon) button and a scroll down menu will appear with the option to Duplicate

4) Once the original version of the website has been duplicated, hover the mouse on the duplicated website and then click on the Actions (three dots icon) button. At the bottom of the scroll down menu can be found the option: Import For Translation button

5) Once clicked on the Import Translation button a tab will pop up

6) On the Import Translation Files tab, you can select the files to upload and then what page(s) should be translated

7) Once the file is uploaded, on the Import Translation Files tab, the user has to choose which column of the file (basically which language) should be imported from the CSV file

8) Ultimately, click on the Import button and then the translation will be imported in CTRwow in the clone version of the original website.
